Pet Peeves

Things that bug me, but aren't deal breakers.
(Some I accidentally do myself and am just as annoyed at myself for)

  • Saying "on accident". It's by accident. It's the one and only grammar issue I ever strictly correct. You don't score a goal on kicking the ball, you score a goal by kicking the ball, as in via.

  • Talking in a theater. You can wait till after the movie is over.

  • Judging a book by its cover. Whether literally judging a book by its actual cover or otherwise.

  • Insulting guys. If you do it once or twice/rarely, that's livable, but it seems to be a theme on the internet and it's not funny anymore because it hurts guys with iffy self esteem even when they're actually reasonable dudes who truly want and try to be good/better people.

  • Assuming. Just, assuming in general, but also assuming guilt. Especially assuming I am guilty of something. Due to years of abuse and mental illness, my default is assuming what I'm doing is wrong/bad. I can assure you, I've already assumed myself guilty, if it's not proven yet, I don't need your help. Partly related to the previous one.

  • Not believing me when I say I know something/make an educated guess. Like, unless you have absolute solid irrefutable facts to back you up, at least listen. My dad does this all the time and 8 times out of 10 he ends up wrong. Don't be like him.

  • Being an overzealous SJW. Sane ones, carry on. But the ones who speak before hearing who they're speaking for? Stop. If you want to help, you have to know what tools to use. Thank you for wanting to assist, but that hammer is not always needed everywhere, and there is a difference between healthy appreciation and true, toxic appropriation. You can't learn that if you're speaking over the group saying "Hey, wait, we don't actually mind that though?"

  • Thinking dreadlocks belong to black people. As a black dude... no. They don't. For one thing, literally everyone's hair naturally tangles. Ours easier, sure, but everyone's can and does. Secondly, the first solid mention of a dreadlock type of style, all the way back in like 1700 BC, even before the Ancient Egyptians, was with the god Shiva. From India. So if we're going to be so pedantic, dreadlocks belong to Indians. Chances are massively high cavemen had dreadlocks too - not like they likely had great combs and brushes, if any. Did Bob Marley culturally appropriate dreadlocks? How dare he, disgusting! (That's sarcasm, by the way.) No one really owns them. It'd be cool as hell to! But we don't. Neither do you, reading this. Unfortunate.

Block Worthy Offenses

Essentially, a list of things I'd hate you for doing.
(If you do or have and would again, shoo.)

  • Telling someone to kill themself/that they should die. I don't care what your reason is, that's disgusting and not anything I want in my life.

  • Repeatedly and meanly using gay/autistic (or other natural human differences) as an insult. Fuck off with that shit.

  • Repeatedly shitting on guys. Haha yeah boys suck we get it. There's a point where you're causing harm and far too many people have passed it. No, the fact that there are tons of guys being harmful themselves is not a good reason. Be the change you want in the world. If that seems unfair - that's because it is. That sucks, but life doesn't give a shit about what's fair and unfortunately we can't force every single person to either. If we could, we wouldn't have this mess, unfortunately.

  • On that note, being a gross creep. Doesn't matter gender, but guys, you are notorious for this. Gross. Quit it or fuck off.

  • Calling yourself a feminist while doing either of the two above. Feminists want the world to be better and healthier for all sexes and genders. Note the words 'better' and 'for all'. If you're making the world worse for either/any and don't care/aren't trying to fix that, you're not much of a true feminist.

  • Getting into drama often. I don't have the energy for that, fam.

  • To FicKin: Saying you are the one and only of your kind and others are fake. Like, I get the mood, I do... but no. Especially attacking others for being a double. Don't want or need that toxicity.

  • Being like my dad. If you remind me of him too much you're likely out. This one has too much detail to describe but chances are you won't get to this point. Be thankful of that.
